MCUTS (Memphis Center for Urban Theological Studies) to support the transition Crichton College to Belhaven College.

Generous Community Initiative to fund the launch of this initiative.  The mission and purpose of the Memphis Generous Community Initiative (GCI) are:

  • To educate, equip and encourage followers of Christ to live a life of Biblical stewardship that glorifies God and produces joyful, infectious generosity.
  • To fund His work in Memphis and around the world
  • To create more financially stable households in Memphis

Crown Financial Ministries to expand and accelerate its efforts in Memphis.  Crown is a partner ministry in the Generous Community Initiative.

September 2008

Memphis Young Life Urban will receive a grant to help add a staff position to create/lead an incentive program that will develop urban leadership. Young Life Urban is directed by Reggie Davis and their mission is to introduce adolescents to Jesus Christ and to help them grow in their faith. This grant takes the ministry’s traditional focus on evangelism and provides more favorable outcomes through the creation of a leadership program. Downline Ministries to support hiring a director of their upcoming Emerging Leaders Program

JIFF (Juvenile Intervention & Faith-based Follow-up) to support five components of a capacity building program including writing a strategic plan, preparation of a human resource manual, hiring of a grant writing consultant, and purchase of donor tracking software and program results tracking software.  JIFF is the City’s only re-entry program for youth who have been incarcerated.

YMOT Outreach Ministries to expand after school program in Whitehaven.

Emmanuel Episcopal Center to strengthen their after school program at the Promise Academy, a charter school.

Crichton College was given a three year grant to hire staff for the development department.

September 2007

Advance Memphis , a financial literacy and jobs training program serving residents of Foote-Cleburne Homes, received a three year grant to underwrite a new staff position to manage its outsourcing program.  The grant was in partnership with the Second Presbyterian Church Foundation.

Families Matter

Families Matter is a partnership of Christ Community Health Services, Agape Child & Family Services, and Christian Psychological Center devoted to promoting and developing marriage and families.   This grant was made in partnership with the Irvin Lansky Foundation and Second Presbyterian Church Foundation, to hire an executive director to restart this ministry which has been inactive for the last two years.
