Scholarship Funds

Scholarship Funds are established by donors provide a permanent source of scholarships, which are awarded directly to educational institutions on behalf of students. Scholarship funds must be endowed and reach a balance of $25,000 before scholarships can be awarded.

Donor advised funds are prohibited from making grants to individuals, which includes scholarships.  However, scholarship funds may be established with Hope CCF if they follow the following guidelines:

  • The fund makes grants for scholarships and similar purposes;
  • the group of persons who will be eligible for the grant program constitutes a charitable class;
  • we, Hope CCF, appoint all members of a scholarship awards committee established for the fund and the donor's advice about scholarship recipients is given solely as a member of the committee;
  • the donor, and parties related to the donor, do not control the committee directly or indirectly, although they are welcome to serve on the committee; and
  • all grants are awarded on an objective and nondiscriminatory basis using a procedure that has been approved by the Board of Directors of Hope Christian Community Foundation.
